I greatly appreciate your decision to support SelfPromotion.com. To make it even easier, I've tried to fill in the payment form with as much information as possible from any information you've already given me. With any luck, all you'll need to enter is your credit card information and the amount you wish to pay.

Since I absolutely refuse to have dissatisfied users, SelfPromotion.com comes with a 100% unconditional unlimited no-risk satisfaction-assured no-matter-what no-matter-when money-back guarantee. If at any time, for any reason, you come to feel that your subscription to the site isn't worth what you contributed, even if you've only got 10 minutes left before your year's subscription is up, just let me know why you're unhappy (so I can fix it!) and I'll give you a complete refund. And by the way, in over a year online, I can count the number of people who've asked for a refund on the fingers of one hand, and I've still got fingers left!

If you contribute $10 or more, you'll gain access to some cool bonus features (such as the ability to apply for awards), as well as my suite of "Secret Net Tools:"
The Rankulator lets you query the major search engines with the 7 permutations of 3 keywords, and tells you on what page your page appears. It also tells you the URLs of the best pages, so you can learn from the ranking masters.

My Espionage tool lets you look at a web-page the way the search engines do. It's great for learning the tricks of getting better rankings.

The Link Finder queries the search engines and tells you what sites are linked to your site.

The HTML PrettyPrinter shows you the logical structure of your pages, and helps diagnose those pesky table errors!

The View HTML tool is like your browser's view command, but it also shows you the HTTP headers.

The Keyword Diffuser is a seriously cool tool. You enter keywords that describe your site, and the Diffuser generates many different sets of META keywords tag, one for each of your pages. Each META tag has a different subset of your keywords in different orders; the idea is to maximize the chance that any particular query on a search engine will find one of your pages. It even has a macro processor to help you generate keyword phrases!

The latest tool is the Multisubmitter. It lets you quickly and automatically submit multiple URLs (dozens if you want!) to all the major search engines, and gives you a nice email report of how well it did!

First, decide how much you want to pay. Here are my suggested contribution guidelines. Feel free to express your admiration by sending more. I won't complain!

Type of siteSuggestion
Educational $5-10
Personal $10-20
Commercial $25-50
More than 5 sites $10/site
Steve Case of AOL $1,000,0001
Bill Gates $5,000,0002
Larry Ellison $10,000,0003
Notes:

1: Steve, cough up the cash and everyone with an aol.com email address will get priority service.

2: Bill, if you pay up, only users of Internet Explorer will get to use the service! This could be the masterstroke that destroys Netscape! And for a mere $5,000,000.00, how can you go wrong?

3: Larry, you always want to outdo Bill, and here's your chance. You're never going to have a better or cheaper chance to put one over on him! And of course, if you do fork over the bucks, I'll set the site so that users of Internet Explorer can't use it. (Note: if Bill's already paid up, it'll cost you $20,000,000.00, as I'll have to give him his $5,000,000.00 back. So don't delay, pay today!)

Got a number in mind? OK, you'll find the form a little lower on this page. When you submit, you'll connect to a secure server on my Videoz site. The entire transaction will be encrypted, so your information won't be exposed to prying eyes.
Clarification: The page you are currently reading is not a secure page, but that isn't important. What is important is that the page that is loaded when you click the submit button IS a secure page. Nothing gets sent from your browser until you click on the submit button, and because the destination page is on a secure server, all the data is sent encrypted. The reason I do things this way is so I can auto-enter many of the fields of the form out of the SelfPromotion.com databases.

Oh and by the way, there has never been a confirmed case of a credit card being intercepted over the internet, even when it was transmitted unencrypted. So reports of evil crackers roaming the 'net stealing credit card info are somewhat exaggerated.

If you don't feel comfortable with this explanation, and want to enter your information on a honest-to-goodness secure server page, then please click this button to transfer to a copy of this page that is located on my secure server.

If your browser does not support SSL encryption (the classic example, alas, is WebTV, which misleadingly says that the page is not available!), or does not like the Thawte Server Certificate we use to authenticate ourselves, or if you don't want to send your credit card number over the net, then please call me at AnimEigo (1-800-24-ANIME) M-F during normal business hours to do the deed over the phone - or fax the information to me at 1-910-763-2376.

If you prefer to pay by cheque or money order, please send them to:
Robert Woodhead
AnimEigo, Inc.
PO BOX 989
Wilmington, NC 28405

Be sure to write your account name on the cheque so I can properly credit it!

Finally, if for some reason this form doesn't work, PLEASE let me know about it so I can fix it. I really do want to take your money! I have had a few reports that some AOL browsers can't properly access the secure server. This is apparently because the "latest" AOL browser is actually a very old version of Netscape!

By the way, once a month or so, some idiot enters a stolen credit card number. I think this is quite amusing. So funny, in fact, that I make the joke better by printing out all the information the moron so obligingly entered, and send it to the credit card company. They really appreciate it!
Comments :
Important security note: Users of Netscape and Explorer version 3 browsers should be aware that on July 27th, 1998, the Thawte Root Certificate installed in your browser EXPIRED, and you will receive a warning every time you try to make a secure connection to a server that is secured by a Thawte certificate (such as mine). The transaction is still secure, don't worry! You can update the certificate in your browser (and avoid the warning) by either upgrading to the latest version of Netscape or Explorer, or by visiting Thawte and following the instructions found there. It takes but 2 minutes and doesn't have to be done again for 22 years.

Users of Explorer 4.x for the Mac may also have a similar problem. If you do get an "expired certificate" alert, click here to learn how to fix it (it takes 2-3 minutes).

You may also wish to consider adding my little button to your home page, so that other people can find this site. You can find details on how to do that, and possibly make some money from the referrals you generate, by clicking here.

About this site...
This site was developed on a Macintosh, programmed in WebSiphon, and served by WebStar. The author, on those exceedingly rare occasions when he does think, indeed thinks differently.

It looks (and works) better when you use version 4.0 or better of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, but can be used with any tables-capable browser.
