Believe it or not, 11.13% of the people who use SelfPromotion.com support the site!
Basically, it's an automated system of exchanging reciprocal links with other sites. The idea being that the more sites that link to you, the higher your Google ranking will be.

Alas, it doesn't work all that well, because first of all, Google's algorithm uses the quality of the site giving you a link to determine how valuable the link is. Having a zillion links from low-quality sites doesn't help much.

And secondly, Google is taking active measures to detect link farming, and penalizes sites that do it. Yet another reason why search engine games are for suckers.

Oh, and did I mention that the people who manage these link farms charge you a pretty penny to be a part of one?
